Meghalaya Adventure: Waterfalls, Caves, and Living Root Bridges

Itinerary: 2 nights in Shillong, 2 nights in Cherrapunji, and 1 night in Guwahati

Day 01: Guwahati Airport / Railway Station – Shillong (100 KM | 3 HRS)

Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station, guests will be transferred to Shillong, renowned as the 'Scotland of the East'. En route, a visit to the picturesque Umium Lake (Barapani) is scheduled, where guests may partake in water sports activities if desired. Upon reaching Shillong, check-in at the hotel. In the evening, a visit to Police Bazaar, the largest local market, is recommended. Overnight accommodation in Shillong.

Day 02: Shillong - Laitlum Canyons - Krang Suri Falls - Shillong (115 KM | 4 Hrs Per Way)

After breakfast, proceed to Laitlum Canyons for awe-inspiring views, followed by a visit to Krang Suri Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Meghalaya. Guests have the opportunity to swim in a natural pool and witness the waterfall from behind. After lunch, return to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 03: Shillong - Dawki - Mawlynnong Village - Cherrapunji (120 KM | 3 Hrs Per Way)

Following breakfast, a visit to Mawlynnong Village, acclaimed as the cleanest village in Asia, is planned. This charming village is known for its cleanliness and unique attractions such as the Living Root Bridge and the intriguing balancing boulder phenomenon. Subsequently, proceed to Dawki, situated along the Indo-Bangladesh border, where guests can enjoy boating in the crystal-clear waters of the Umgnot River. In the evening, continue to Cherrapunjee for overnight accommodation.

Day 04: Cherrapunjee

Begin the day early to relish the enchanting mornings of Cherrapunjee. Explore attractions such as Eco Park, Dainthlen Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls), Mawsmai Cave, and Thangkharang Park. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

Optional Activity- Embark on a full-day trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge at Nongriat Village, involving approximately 3200 steps each way. For the more adventurous, a further trek to Rainbow Falls, which takes about 60 to 90 minutes from the Double Decker Living Root Bridge, is available.

Day 05: Cherrapunjee - Guwahati (160 KM | 5 HRS)

After breakfast, proceed to Guwahati. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel. Visit Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, a cultural institution showcasing Assamese history and culture, and consider exploring the Assam Film Museum to learn about the history of Assamese cinema. In the evening, a River Cruise on the Brahmaputra River (available for an additional fee) is recommended. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 06: Hotel – Guwahati Airport / Railway Station

Following breakfast, a visit to Kamakhya Temple (Timing: 08:00 A.M to 01:00 P.M & 3:00 P.M until dusk) is scheduled. Guests will then be transferred to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for their onward journey.

Note: In the event of an early morning departure, the visit to Kamakhya Temple may be arranged on the previous day instead of the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Museum. It is recommended to schedule an evening flight or train departure to allow for additional sightseeing opportunities on the day of departure.
